Born from a moment of strength, grace, and transformation, the Sandata Pants is an armor for the modern warrior. Inspired by the iconic silhouette of Samurai Hakama pants, these flowing trousers made their quiet debut during Paris Fashion Week 2023. At the time, I was carrying not just a collection, but life itself—pregnant with my youngest daughter and journeying from Tokyo to Paris with resilience and fire.

“Sandata,” the Filipino word for weapon, is both a tribute to ancestral strength and a statement of readiness for life’s battles. Made with ethically sourced satin, these pants are soft to the touch yet bold in form. Accented with Maranao langkit—a traditional handwoven ornamental strip from the Maranao people—each pair of Sandata Pants carries cultural weight and intention in every fold. The langkit used in this piece comes from the skilled weavers of Maranao Collectibles, made possible through our amazing long-time partner Salika Maguindanao, whose work continues to bridge culture with the present.
